This is how and where you can get your favourite movie looks

Because you’d be lying if you said you didn’t want to be young Donna Sheridan

Movie’s effect our life choices in more ways than one. We have all battled the temptation of booking a one-way ticket to Cali after watching Mi Vida Loca, and we have all rushed off to buy the soundtrack to Mamma Mia 2, because maybe, just maybe, playing Angel Eyes at full volume will turn your own life into a musical. It is however, not only the setting and the songs which make a movie, it is the fashion.

Okay, hear me out. You might not initially think that fashion is a huge part of a movie, but after thinking of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, you can’t help but picture Holly Golightly’s little black dress, nor can you hear the word Clueless without dreaming of Cher’s yellow plaid outfit. Fashion is the easiest thing to take inspiration from (you already know that your student loan won’t stretch to the cost of an aeroplane ticket) and it is an instantly recognisable way of connecting yourself to your favourite films (let’s be honest, if people don’t link your plaid skirt to Cher, you don’t even want them as a friend). Luckily for you, we have found some of the hottest looks from the hottest movies, and we will tell you exactly where to get them…

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

Let’s start with the current QUEEN of the silver screen- Young Donna in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Young Donna’s fashion has been the envy of almost everybody this summer (and Young Donna’s choice of men AMMARITE), as she has brought back all of the forgotten 70s vibes, from bold prints, to floppy hats and of course, dungaree’s. So, it is getting a bit chillier now, but that’s no excuse to put away everything from your summer wardrobe. You can still take inspiration from her dungaree’s, and as for Young Donna’s Paris outfit… well, you already know that is just the perfect look for autumn.

Hats have the power to transform any outfit, if you have the confidence to believe you can pull it off (we KNOW you can). If you are a hat virgin then you don’t necessarily need to jump right in with young Donna’s floppy hat, you can still experiment with a beret or baker boy hat to ease yourself in gently to this new and wonderful world.

Okay, we confess that it might be slightly too chilly for dungaree’s now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take inspiration for Donna, and bring out her denim dreams in a whole new way. Try this denim dress from River Island for the perfect place to start:

Clueless

Cher Horowitz will go down in the history books as the reigning queen of two years… 1995 AND 2018. Clueless vibes are absolutely EVERYWHERE at the minute and we are absolutely here for it. Her yellow plaited outfit is instantly recognisable, but if yellow isn’t your colour then you can always bring out the 90s vibes in other colours, like this dreamy pink set from Topshop. Please do drive carefully though.

Legally Blonde

If you don’t like pink then you might as well just keep scrolling TBH. You don’t need to be blonde to pull off Ellie Woods’ endless pink wardrobe, nor do you need a Harvard acceptance letter, or a Chihuahua. You do however need the confidence to pull off pink faux fur, pink glasses and pink glitter. Who said 2001 wasn’t edgy?

There is a reason Ellie wore pink so much, and it is because pink can look great at any time of the day. Whether it is a pink suit like this one from Pretty Little Thing for the office, or your go-to colour for an occasion, it is versatile for your every need.

Ladybird

The film that managed to score a perfect 100 on Rotten Tomatoes must be undeniably perfect in every way, so where better to take fashion inspiration from? Lady Bird brings out Californian fashion in a nostalgic way, through the character of Christine (Lady Bird), and her teenage life in Sacramento, and blesses us with a broad spectrum of style. From bootcut denim, to lacy prom dresses and patterned jumpers and skirts, we just want to live our life as Lady Bird, and Forever 21, our second favourite Californian import is the best place to start.

Pretty Woman

Pretty Woman is iconic, and I’m prepared to fight ANYBODY on this one. As the character of Vivian, Julia Roberts takes on two personas’, with two completely different styles. Despite the many ICONIC outfits to pick from, we can’t help but have a favourite to take into our autumn wardrobe, and that is her brown spotty dress. And of if you don’t invest in spots the way Vivian did, then that is just a BIG MISTAKE. BIG. HUGE.

(Especially when we practically putting this dreamy spotty outfit from New Look below for your convivence)
